Egypt’s agricultural exports increased to $2.2B in 2017

CAIRO – 21 January 2018: Egypt’s agricultural exports increased 3 percent in 2017 to record $2.2 billion, compared to $2.1 billion in 2016, according to Agricultural Export Council’s report.

“The sector’s exports increased in December, reaching $300 million; the sector's exports acquired 10 percent of Egypt’s non-petroleum exports,” the Chairman of Agricultural Export Council, Abdel Hamid al -Dermdash, told Youm7.

Dermerdash added that citrus fruits, potato, onion, garlic, and Fruits’ exports recorded $ 523.23 million, $270.38 million, $215.54 million and $335.03 million, respectively, during the first 11months of 2017.

Ten countries acquired 65 percent of the sector’s exports with $1.3 billion; Russia came first with $290.52 million, followed by Saudi Arabia with $286.68 million and Holland came third with $143.41 million, according to the report.
