EGX ends positively on first trading day of 2018

CAIRO – 2 January 2018: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended its transactions Tuesday in green at the end of the first trading session of 2018.

Benchmark EGX30 slightly went up 0.03 percent to stand at 15,023 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX70 increased 0.93 percent to end at 835 points and the broader index EGX100 also leveled up 0.54 percent to close at 1,982 points.

Market capitalization hiked around LE 4 billion as it recorded LE 828.935, up from LE 824.917 billion, down from LE 823.798 billion attained at the end of transactions on Sunday.

Egyptian, Arab and foreign individuals as well as Egyptian institutions were net sellers at LE 5.95 million, LE 25 million, LE 6.7 million and LE 1.3 million respectively. Meanwhile, Arab and foreign organizations were net buyers at LE 2.2 million and LE 36.8 million.

Shares of 108 companies recorded increases, while 38 others saw declines, and shares of 39 firms remained unchanged.
