CAIRO – 7 December 2017: The Africa 2017 Forum: “Business for Africa, Egypt and the World” started its first day of events on Thursday.

Taking place in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh from December 7 to 9, the forum will be opened by Tony Elumelu, co-chair of Young Entrepreneurs Day, who is also the chairman of Heirs Holdings in Nigeria.

The following session will feature financing start-ups and getting venture capital for businesses. The session will be moderated by Ben White, founder and CEO of VC for Africa, while the speakers will be the chairman of Egypt Ventures, senior investment officer of IFC Ventures Wale Ayeni and chairman of TechWadi in the U.S. Sharif El-Badawi.

Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi is expected to attend a session on driving African entrepreneurship. The session will be attended by President of the Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame.

Aiming to bring together policy makers, financiers and investors to promote investments in strategic sectors, the event is organized by Egypt’s Ministry of Investment and International Cooperation and the COMESA Regional Investment Agency (RIA).
