CAIRO – 30 November 2017: Developing Egypt’s quality system comes on the top of the Trade Ministry’s priorities in the current period, Trade Minister Tarek Kabil said in statement Thursday.

He said that applying quality standards is essential to increase the competitiveness of Egyptian products in the local market and abroad.

Head of the Egyptian Organization for Standardization & Quality (EOS) Ashraf Afifi said that the organization has carried out its periodic inspection on 51 companies, in addition to checking the conformity of 20 companies to quality standards. These companies, he said, applied to obtain Egypt’s quality mark.

Afifi added that 262 international certificates for managing quality systems had been registered in EOS, in addition to preparing 110 new quality standards ready for adoption.

Hany Desouki, Executive Director of the Egyptian Accreditation Council (EGAC) said that his council has intensified its efforts in October as it revised the quality systems and carried out visits and inspection to make sure that entities are complying with quality standards.
