CAIRO – 14 August 2017: Trade volume between Egypt and the four African countries, which President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi is visiting, reached $73 billion in 2016, Minister of Industry Tarek Kabil said Monday.

Egyptian exports to Tanzania, Rwanda, Gabon and Chad were $69 million last year, while imports recorded $4 million, Kabil said in a statement.

Main products exported to Rwanda are food, beverages, tobacco, chemical, vegetable products, wood, metals and oils, while imports are agricultural products.

As for Chad, exports are food, engineering, medical, furniture, agriculture and leather products, while Egypt imports food and cotton products.

Egypt sends food, chemical, metallurgical, cement, wood products to Tanzania, while imports are wood, leather and chemical products.

Exports to Gabon are transportation buses, glass products, home appliances and furniture, while imports are steel products.

Sisi’s visit is expected to last for four days, to discuss the water security issue of the Nile Basin countries, in addition to strengthening the economic and political partnerships.
