Giza prepares to construct multi-benefit new King Abdualla Axis

CAIRO – 22 July 2017: In efforts to prepare for implementing the first phase of the King Abduallah axis that extends 15 kilometers in Giza, several building violations were removed on Friday.Marked as one of the major infrastructure projects in the country, the axis is designed to decrease congestion in the governorate of Giza, Ring Road, El Maryooteya Road, El Bahr El-Azam road, and to connect to the underground metro and Rod El Farag Axis, according to a released statement by governorate.

Expected to be built over three phases, the total cost of the axis amountsto EGP 850 million ($ 475.8 million). The axis holds several benefits including assisting travelers in shuttling easily through main travel roads without passing through city congestion. The axis will provide access to Masr- El Saeed(Cairo-Upper Egypt) agriculture road, Egypt- El Fayoum road, West Assyut Desert Road, Egypt- Alexandria desert road, Egypt - Alexandria agriculture road, Egypt- Ismailia desert road, Egypt- Ismailia agriculture road, Suez Road, Katemya- Ain El Sokhna road, and Corniche El Nile.

Other benefits include saving time and approximately EGP 100 million worth of gas annually and reducing traffic congestion, according to project details released by the governorate.

Several projects will also be constructed along the axis including a mall, shopping centers, public services, public parks, and multi-storey garages. King Abduallah Axis is expected to serve 150,000 cars per day.
