CAIRO – 16 July 2017: Minister of International Cooperation and investment Sahar Nasr discussed expanding Alexandria’s free zone and increasing investment opportunities available in it, a Sunday statement said.

In a visit to Alexandria governorate, the minister reviewed the 406 development projects in the free zone, at total capitals of $3.5 billion and investments of $9.9 billion. The projects offer 421,000 job vacancies.

Nasr said that the ministry has put a strategic vision to maximize the role of the free zone in enhancing the country’s investment climate.

She added that priority will be given to small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for their importance in maximizing the domestic product, adding that investors will be offered incentives when investing in the neediest areas.

The minister said that the ministry has established Egypt Entrepreneurship and Investment Company to help small investors and to enter into partnerships with them to finance emerging companies, in addition to providing them with technical support and training.
