CAIRO – 17 June 2017: Qatar seeks to “destroy the region” in cooperation with Iran, which has “ambitious aspirations in Yemen and supports Houthi militias,” Qatari Leaks website published on Thursday.

According to the website, a leaked phone conversation between Qatari intelligence officer Nasser Al Mari and Yemen‘s National Solidarity Council leader Sheikh Hussein al-Ahmar “uncovered Qatari attempts to spoil the Gulf Initiative to resolve the Yemeni crisis.” In the leaked conversation, the Qatari intelligence officer asked al-Ahmar to inform the Houthis’ leader, described as Qatar’s “friend” during the conversation, to refuse the Gulf initiative.

“Qatar insists on playing the role of Iran’s ally whose main role is to destabilize the region and its neighbors,” said Qatar Leaks. “It has been revealed that Qatar supports terrorism and chaos so Iran [can take control of] the region.”

Meanwhile, the Libyan Intelligence apparatus revealed documents earlier that proved the involvement ofYemeni tribal leader Al-Ahmar, the incumbent governor of Sadaa, and well-known Yemeni weapons smuggler Fares Manaa in plotting against Saudi Arabia.

The Libyan documents showed that al-Ahmar and Manaa had received millions of dollars to carry out chaotic acts in Saudi Arabia, in addition to their support to Houthi forces with funds and arms.
