CAIRO – 14 November 2019: "Egypt’s visit to the United Arabs Emirates (UAE) reflects the two countries' special and brotherly relations," Egypt’s Ambassador in the UAE Sherif Mohamed Fouad said on Wednesday.

In statements to Emarat Al Youm newspaper, Fouad said that all the meetings set to be held during the visit aim at stabilizing and enhancing the two countries' stance towards the current escalating challenges in the MENA region.

The visit’s timing is considered “very sensitive,” according to Fouad, in light of the growing challenges and variables in the region that require coordination between the two governments.

The ambassador stressed that the Egyptian-Emirati relations are characterized by mutual understanding under the guidance of their “wise leaderships,” which push the course of bilateral relations to higher levels through the implementation of several joint projects, increasing the volume of investments and pushing the rates of trade to unprecedented levels.

"Egypt and the UAE share similar perspectives and points of view on several international causes and files," Fouad stressed, referring to President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi's earlier statements , where he asserted that the Gulf states' stability is as important as Egypt’s stability.

Fouad also noted that the economic and trade relations between the two countries have witnessed unprecedented development, as the trade rates hit $3.3 Billion in 2018.

Earlier on Wednesday, Sisi headed to UAE to meet with Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan to discuss bilateral relations and other various Arab, regional and international issues of mutual concern.

According to a statement issued by presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady, the visit comes within the framework of the distinguished and profound bilateral relations and the mutual keenness on maintaining coordination on ways to face the current challenges in the region.
