CAIRO – 13 September 2019: British Secretary of State for Middle East and North Africa Andrew Morrison has hailed the progress in the cooperation fields with Egypt, including health and education, in a meeting with the Egyptian ambassador, the Egyptian foreign ministry said in a statement.

Morrison also praised the Memorandum of Understanding signed to establish a branch for the University of London in Egypt's New Administrative Capital currently under construction.

During his meeting with Ambassador Tarek Adel, Morrison affirmed the country's keenness to strengthen relations with Egypt in the coming period at all levels to achieve common interest.

The two diplomats discussed the developments of bilateral cooperation and the ongoing efforts to enhance the ties between the two states. They also reviewed developments in a number of regional issues.

Adel, during the meeting, hoped that the expected visit of Morrison to Cairo soon will result in a remarkable outcome that contribute to the efforts to strengthen relations between the two countries.

Adel witnessed on Tuesday the signing of a deal with the University of London to establish a branch of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) at the New Administrative Capital, MENA reported.

The deal was inked at the Egyptian embassy in London by Mahmoud Abdelkader, who is the founder of the European University in Egypt and its chief of board of trustees, and Craig O'Callaghan, the Director of Operations (International) at the University of London, according to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry.

The agreement comes as part of Egypt's 2030 vision to develop education, through hosting branches of world's major universities, the statement added.
