CAIRO – 12 September 2019: Head of the defense and national security committee at the Libyan Parliament Talaal el-Mayhoub said, “The success of any forum to solve the Libyan crisis relies on the disarmament of the militias and the complete elimination of terrorism.”

Assistant Secretary of Near Eastern Affairs David Schenker and Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland met with their French, British and German counterparts to discuss the Libyan affairs developments.

The US Embassy in Libya tweeted on Sept. 11 about the meeting, saying that it comes as part of the continuous international efforts exerted to stop the fight in Tripoli.

The meeting also encouraged the rapid resumption of the political process with UN mediation.

A forum is scheduled to be held during the few coming weeks in a European country to discuss ways of enhancing the political situation in Libya.
