CAIRO – 16 July 2019: A delegation of Libyan member of the parliament concluded its visit to Cairo on Monday after being invited by the Egyptian parliament.

The members of the delegation- more than 70 members of parliament- stressed that the Libyan parliament must have a key role in solving the country’s crisis since its members were elected to represent the people’s will.

The delegation members vowed to preserve the unity of the Libyan state, the civil ruling, the democratic course and the peaceful transition of authority as per the constitution.

The delegation called the rest of the parliament members to participate in the discussions to peacefully solve the current crisis.

The delegation members visited the Egyptian parliament and met with the national committee responsible for following up the Libyan issue.

The meeting tackled how to enable the Libyan parliament to play its respective role and solve the current Libyan crisis.

The delegation stressed that the Libyan crisis should be solved through the Libyan House of Representatives in its capacity as the only legitimate authority elected by people, reiterating that Libya is a civil state.

The delegation members thanked Egypt’s president, parliament, government and people for the warm hospitality.
