NIAMEY, July 8 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Monday affirmed the necessity of overcoming challenges facing the African continent through developing economic projects.

The president called on the international community to offer support for Africa.

"The summit is an opportunity for developing economic and trade projects in our continent," Sisi said while chairing a mini coordinating summit between the African Union (AU) and the regional economic groups in Niger.

He thanked President of Niger Mahamadou Issoufou and the head of the African Union committee for rendering the summit a success.

"The African Union is one of the major sovereign institutions that addresses multiple key files, projects and future plans," president Sisi added.

"The eight regional economic blocks play an indispensable role in upholding cohesion among African countries, making them the main pillars of boosting joint African action," President Sisi said.

We have to appreciate the effective role played by these blocks - which possess varied capabilities - in giving impetus for regional integration across the continent," he added while addressing the mini coordinating summit between the African Union (AU) and the regional economic groups in Niger.

He added that the summit the proper opportunity for enhancing coherence between the African Union and the eight regional economic blocks, voicing support for investors showing eagerness to back Africa's economic and trade projects.

The African countries have mutual interests of pursuing further cooperation and integration, Sisi added.

"African countries have a political strategic view and launch many initiatives to render further projects a success alongside creating more job opportunities for African youth aiming to achieve higher dreams and aspirations," Sisi said.

He asserted the necessity of firmly facing all challenges and finding solutions to them, noting the importance of efforts meant to enhance cohesion among African countries.

Though the summit is due to conclude today, ongoing cooperation and integration among African countries will never come to an end, thanks to potential projects and future plans of action that predict a promising future for the continent, Sisi asserted.
