CAIRO - 4 June 2019: The Legal Counsel of the African Union Ambassador Namira Negm met on Monday with her counterparts of sub-regional African organizations to discuss the rules that will govern the upcoming African Union (AU) Summit.

The summit will take place in Niger next July. This is the first summit where a coordination between the AU and sub-regional organizations is assumed.

The counsels also discussed the draft amendments to the cooperation protocol signed between the AU and the sub-regional organizations in 2008. The protocol had to be revised to match the 2063 Agenda, and help concert development efforts on the continent.
