CAIRO, May 8 (MENA) - Head of the House of Representatives' Housing Committee Alaa Wali said that the executive statute of the law on reconciliation in building code violations will be finalized soon and will be issued before a previously set deadline.

Wali asserted that the statute will completely take into account the social dimension and public interest while reconciling with violators and legalizing the status of their property. The statute will be submitted to the prime minister to be endorsed before 8 July, which is the date of the expiry of the three-month deadline sanctioned by the law.

In a press press statement on Wednesday, MP Wali said that each governorate will have a specialized committee that will be responsible for implementing reconciliation measures with the violators on a case-by-case basis.

The Housing Committee is following up all procedures with the ad hoc committee assigned with preparing the statute under the chairmanship of Housing Minister Assem el Gazzar so as to reach the best drafted content in a way that serves public interest, Wali added.

The ad hoc committee will determine the value of the settlement money that will be paid by the violator which will range between EGP 50 and EGP 2,000 per meter, Wali said.

Revenues from legalizing the status of the buildings constructed in violation to law and reconciling with the citizens will be directed to the public treasury so as to be allocated for national infrastructure projects, he added.
