CAIRO - 6 May 2019: Secretary General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee Saeb Erekat thanked Egypt for its efforts to stop the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, which killed 27,wounded 185 and destroyed 1,000 housing units.

During an exclusive interview with Al Arabiya news channel,Erekat stated that the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip is part of Netanyahu and his government’s policy to separate the West Bank from the Gaza Strip todestroy the national project and disrupt the efforts to reach a two-state solution. Netanyahu’s policy also aims to drop the refugee file and accept Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Erekat called for an end to the causes of the split immediately and for thereturn to the Cairo agreement and the ballot boxes to unify the Palestinian people.

He explained that US President Donald Trump is currently working to bring down all that the international community has done since 1945.

Erekat said that Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz launched the "Dhahran" summit in Jerusalem and condemned the American decisions on Jerusalem.

In the same context, the correspondent of the WAFA news agency quoted an Egyptian source saying that the agreement includes stopping targeting the fishermen, farmers and demonstrators in the peaceful marches east of the Gaza Strip.
