CAIRO – 2 April 2019: Egypt’s parliament speaker Ali Abdel Aal met Monday with Burundi President Pierre Nkurunziza, as they discussed boosting the relations between the two countries.

As part of his visit to Burundi, heading delegation of Egyptian parliamentarians, Abdel Aal conducted several diplomatic meetings. He thanked president Nkurunziza for the ‘great hospitality and welcome’ during the meeting.

Abdel Aal also delivered Nkurunziza, President Abdel Fath al-Sisi greetings, affirming on boosting the two countries long-historical relations, especially on the parliament level.
This visit considers being the first of its kind for an Egyptian parliament speaker ever to Burundi.

On March 29, Abdel Aal embarked on an African tour to Burundi and Tanzania on at invitation of the parliament speakers of both countries, according to a statement issued from the Egyptian House of Representatives.

The African tour comes in light of enhancing Egypt’s relations with African countries on parliamentary levels amid Egypt’s presidency of the African Union this year, the statement added.

Burundi's Ambassador to Cairo Seliman Mousaon had met with Parliament's Committee of African Affairs headed by Tarek Radwan on November 26, 2018. Both sides discussed means of convergence between the executive and legislative authorities of the Parliament.
