CAIRO - 3 June 2017: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel next week in an official visit to Berlin where he will discuss the bilateral relations and the international and regional issues of mutual concerns, state-owned newspaper al-Akhbar reported on Saturday.

President Sisi will also meet with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Commerce Sigmar Gabriel and Brigitte Zypries.
He also will meet with a number of CEOs of German businesses, and to participate in the Egyptian-German Business Forum.

German Chancellor has paid an official visit to Egypt on June 2 when she and President Sisi

inaugurated

the first phase of the Siemens power plants in Egypt.

In June 2015, President Sisi visited Germany where he discussed with Merkel the national, regional and international developments, besides bilateral relations in all fields; the two countries have agreed on a joint development program to last until 2030, Sisi noted.

On May 18, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his German counterpart held a tow-day meeting in Berlin on the international counter-terrorism efforts, according to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

A

security cooperation agreement

between Egypt and Germany is set to enter into force nearly a year after it was initially announced; the agreement was signed between the Egyptian Minister of Interior Magdy Abdel Ghaffar and his German counterpart, Thomas de Maiziére, in Berlin in July 2016. It was ratified by the Egyptian parliament in February 2017, and Germany’s Reichstag gave its final approval in April.
