NOUAKCHOTT - 1 January 2019: Mauritania's Minister of Economy and Finance Mokhtar Ould Ajay predicted a qualitative leap in the economic partnership between Egypt and his country.

In statements to MENA, the minister said his country welcomes Egyptian businessmen wishing to invest in Mauritania, and provides facilitation for the establishment of Egyptian-Mauritanian partnership in all fields.

"We have recently received offers from Egyptian companies in several fields, and we are now signing with some of these companies to set up factories here", he added.

Ould Ajay said the Mauritanian government is aware of the role played by foreign direct investments in achieving economic growth, creating jobs and bringing technology and wealth to the country.

The government gives special attention to Arab investments, he added.

An agreement signed by Mauritania with ECOWAS is a magnet for investments because it brings together 15 countries with a population of more than 350 million, one of the largest markets in the region, the minister said.

Egyptian products to be manufactured in Mauritania will be able to enter the markets of these countries without taxes, he added.
