CAIRO, 31 Dec 2018: A delegation of the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee on Monday offered condolences to Vietnamese Ambassador in Cairo Do Hoang Long over the victims of the deadly tourist bus bombing that took place in Giza's Mariotia district on Friday.

During a meeting with the Vietnamese diplomat, the delegation, led by MP Karim Darwish, extended condolences on behalf of House Speaker Ali Abdel Aal and all members of the legislature.

Darwish expressed heart-felt sympathies to the Vietnamese people and government and the victims' families, stressing close relations binding the two countries.

He pointed to the recent progress in Egyptian-Vietnamese relations, especially after President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's visit to the Asian country in 2017, which heralded the beginning of a new chapter in bilateral ties at all levels.

For his part, the Vietnamese ambassador expressed his appreciation of the House delegation's visit, lauding the rapid response from all Egyptian bodies to deal with the terrorist incident.

Moreover, Do Hoang Long commended the role played by Cairo to combat terrorism, saying that his country looks forward to cementing relations with Egypt in all areas, given the distinguished ties between the two states
