Islam urges Muslims to congratulate others on religious holidays

Fri, Dec. 14, 2018
CAIRO – 14 December 2018: Congratulating non-Muslims with their holidays is compatible with Islam’s teaching and even praised and urge, according to Dar al-Ifta al-Misriyyah.

In a motion graphic video published on Dar al-Ifta’s official Facebook page Thursday, it was stated that Islam believes in the Peaceful coexistence between all people regardless of their religious beliefs. The video also called for exchanging gifts and treating individuals from different religious backgrounds well.

The video also called on all Muslims to stick to Islam’s moderate teachings and not to follow extremists who “explain religion teachings as they desire and according to their own interests.”

“Follow Allah’s teachings and his prophet Mohammed. Never believe extremists. All prophets’ birthday is a holiday that deserves to be celebrated as a result to what they did for humanity,” the video said.

Some extremists used to claim that congratulating non-Muslims and people from different religions on their holidays is not compatible with Islam, or even makes for impious Muslims, which was extremely denied by Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta.
