CAIRO - 19 November 2018: Parliamentarian Mohammed Abdallah Zain el-Din, deputy of the Parliament's Transportation Committee, agreed to the draft law regulating outdoor commercials.

Din pointed out that outdoor advertisement in Egypt has become a complete mess due to the fact that individuals put advertisements up on the street without the approval of the relevant parties.

Din asked to establish a higher committee, under the auspices of the prime minister, to regulate commercials’ affairs. He assured that the lack of censorship distracts the attention of passersby, especially on the high ways, which increases the rate of accidents.

The deputy to the Transportation Committee added that the local administration approved commercials based on monetary benefits rather than other important factors. Commercials included the display of huge banners, inappropriate images, improper jokes and a way to exchange apologies among lovers, all of which are improper, he added.

Thus, setting strict definite rules and instructions are a must, Din clarified. In addition to setting standards to renew the Ads’ license and imposing harsh punishments on the companies and agencies that violate these rules and provisions.
