CAIRO - 11 November 2018: “The dignity of Egyptian citizens and Egyptian women in specific is a redline. However, we respect Kuwaiti authorities and judiciary,” Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Nabila Makram commented on the assault on an Egyptian in Kuwait.

That was during her meeting with the Foreign Relations Committee at the parliament but she criticized the woman’s resort to social media stressing that Egyptian expats must have more confidence in their country’s embassies.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared it is following up with the Kuwaiti side on investigations and legal procedures. Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Khaled Yussri said the consulate in Kuwait received Fatma Aziz and her husband.

Aziz posted a video earlier this week as she was crying while telling the story. She, her husband, friend, and children were having a walk on the seaside - which has a bicycle trail - when she saw a young Kuwaiti woman who was about to hit her youngest child. Despite Aziz’s warnings, the biker had hit the child before fighting with the mother for shouting.

The kuwaiti woman was accompanied by four others who shoved Aziz to the ground and stepped on her face. Her hair was torn out. Her finger was broken. And, her body became covered in bruises.

The police arrived and Aziz filed a complaint. She said in the video she was assured she would get justice but asked viewers to share her story on social media.

A Kuwaiti court sentenced in September a Kuwaiti national to 17 years in prison for attacking an Egyptian expatriate in the Shuwaikh industrial area.

The police arrested the Kuwaiti citizen who has severely beaten the Egyptian expatriate putting him in comma. The Egyptian expatriate was working for a bicycle and motorcycle store in Kuwait.

The incident occurred in December 2017, when the Kuwaiti citizen entered the bicycle store and asked the Egyptian worker to repair his motorcycle. The Egyptian expat informed him that according to the store system he cannot do that immediately. The Kuwaiti citizen got extremely frustrated and proceeded to severely beat the worker until he fell unconscious, causing him several head injuries.
