CAIRO – 12 October 2018: Palestinians are uniting to take part in the “Jerusalem Uprising”, a wide-scale protests on Friday refuting the Israeli blockage and the closure of the eastern borders of the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian Higher National Commission for the March of Return and Breaking the Siege called the Palestinian crowd to participate in the activities of Marches of Return which will be launched after Friday’s prayer on the borders.

"The Great March of Return" protests were launched on March 30th by thousands of Palestinian civilians in Gaza -- which has suffered from a decade-long Israeli siege -- who took to the borders to demand their right of return as refugees to their original homelands, now in present-day Israel.

March 30, comes on the occasion of the Land Day (an annual day of commemoration for Palestinians of the 1976 events) to demand the activation of the "right of return" to Palestinian refugees who left their homes in 1948 and lift the siege the Israeli occupation has placed on of the Gaza Strip.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received on Sept. 26 Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his residence in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session.

Sisi stressed the importance of resuming the negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis to reach a just and comprehensive resolution based on a two-state solution, in accordance with the international treaties, presidential spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi stated.

On the other hand, Netanyahu praised Egypt’s role and efforts in fighting terrorism in the Middle East.

Netanyahu wrote on his Twitter account that his talks with Sisi late on Wednesday focused on “regional developments”. He did not add any details.

Cairo is continuing its strenuous efforts with Palestinian officials to reach a number of understandings regarding the reconciliation process between Fatah and Hamas, a reliable source affirmed in August.

The efforts, according to the source, are aiming to stand on a united national Palestinian vision that provides a suitable and a decent life for Palestinians.

Moreover, the source stressed the importance of coordinating with the international community to provide the necessary support for the establishment of development projects that will provide a safe environment for Palestinians and guarantee continuous development in Palestine.
