13 presidential commands during inauguration of new road projects

CAIRO – 10 September 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi recently inaugurated a number of Nile Axis projects, roads and bridges, including Tama (Assiut / Sohag), Qus, Qena, Baltim and the Regional Ring Road Project executed by the General Authority for Roads, Bridges and Land Transport and the Military Engineering Authority.

During the inauguration ceremony, President Sisi issued a series of instructions and commands to the government and the governors to be implemented within a fixed period of time such as:

1- President Sisi ordered the minister of transportation and the chairman of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces to quickly compensate citizens whose lands were expropriated.

2- The president stressed the importance of removing all infringements and buildings on the roads and axes after compensating their owners to prevent the spread of slums.

3. Sisi warned state officials of the danger of encroachment on agricultural lands and the Nile River.

4- President Sisi launched a competition for the development of roads within a period of three to six months.

5 - The president assigned governors with the elimination of all bumps in all roads and axes of their governorates.

6 - President Sisi ordered governors to allocate the necessary budget and funds for the development of road networks and axes in their governorates.

7 - The president announced the establishment of a committee comprising the Ministry of Housing and Transportation, the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, the Technical College and the Administrative Control body to assess all old roads and axes within a month, determining the required budget for improving their efficiency and their maintenance.

8. He ordered the new committee to inspect bridges constructed more than 10 years ago to ensure their safety.

9 – Sisi stressed the need to finish the Regional Ring Road Project by June 30, 2019.

10- The president assigned the Ministry of Irrigation and governors with cleansing and purging the Nile River and its canals from herbs to provide clean water.

11. President Sisi asserted the need to adhere to all deadlines of projects.

12. He assigned the governor of Cairo to examine the lighting columns of the airport road.

13- He instructed General Kamel al-Wazir, the head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, to implement major modifications on Mehwar El-Tameer Bridge in Alexandria.

On July 22, 2014, President Sisi launched a national project for roads, which includes upgrading and constructing 39 road networks with a total length of 4,400 km to link governorates through internal roads and establish a new international road network.

In his speech during the inauguration of the regional ring road project and a number of other road projects, President Sisi stated: “By June 30, 2020, we will present a new Egypt built by the state, the government and the Egyptian people."
