Sudanese delegation to visit Cairo ahead Presidential meeting

CAIRO – 29 July 2018: The Egyptian ambassador in Sudan, Osama Shaltout, said in a press statement Saturday that both Egyptian and Sudanese officials are keen to realize more cooperation agreements between their governments.

Shaltout added that a Sudanese official delegation is expected to visit Cairo in August to discuss intensively the bilateral relations in order to surf new spots of partnerships. The visit will suggest the topics and priorities to be discussed during the expected meeting between Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al Sisi and his Sudanese counterpart Omar al Bashir in October.

Shaltout pointed out that the Foreign Ministries in both States are tasked to set a time schedule to realize the agreements signed between the two countries since 2016.

Both governments brokered lately a series of deals in order to enhance the bilateral relations which witnessed a slight tense amid the Ethiopian Grand Renaissance Dam (GERD) talks, However they had a speedy recovery after both countries’ officials were eager to contain any possible disagreements.

Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al Sisi has received in Cairo the Sudanese foreign minister el-Dardiri Mohamed Ahmed, The latter chose Egypt to be the first country he visits after assuming the office in May. President Abdel Fatah al Sisi has also visited Khartoum on July 19 where he met with his Sudanese counterpart Omar al Bashir.
