CAIRO – 21 July 2018: Egypt’s Parliament speaker Ali Abdel-Aal met on Friday with his Italian counterpart Roberto Fico in Rome, as he was on his way back to Cairo from a short visit to Serbia marking 110 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The quick meeting that was presented by Egypt’s Ambassador to Rome, Hesham Badr, tackled several issues regarding Egypt’s relationship with Italy and the exerted efforts by the two counties especially regarding confronting terrorism and illegal immigration.

Fico discussed with Abdel-Aal Egypt’s latest legislative laws and decisions, along with the recent developments regarding enhancing the countries’ economic and investment conditions.

Fico expressed his appreciation to the vital role that Egypt plays in the region. He praised the country’s achievements especially in the economic and energy fields. Fico also said that Egyptian-Italian relations have witnessed great development lately, hoping for boosting the relations even more during the coming period.

Abdel-Aal departed to the Serbian capital, Belgrade, on Wednesday July 18, upon an invitation from his Serbian counterpart Maja Gojković.

The invitation marked the 110th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, according to the official statement issued by the Parliament.

Abdel-Aal was accompanied by a high-level parliamentary delegation, including Tareq Radwan and Karim Darwish.

Abdel-Aal also gave a speech in the Serbian Parliament after meeting with Gojković.
