Egypt condemns Brak el-Shati airbase attack

CAIRO – 19 May 2017: Egypt strongly condemned the deadly attack that hit the Libyan army affiliated Brak el-Shati base, on Thursday, which left at least 60 killed, according to a statement released Friday from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Egypt expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the victims,” the statement said, “and it stands in solidarity with Libyan people and its national army.”

The statement called for the authorities to show seriousness in dealing with the culprits, who try to carve out a political role for themselves by committing foreign funded terrorist operations in cooperation with terrorist groups.
