CAIRO – 2 July 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi appointed on Monday Major General Mohsen Mahmoud Abdel Nabi as director of the president's office.

Abdel Nabi graduated from the Egyptian Military Academy in 1978, and occupied the position of the director of the Armed Forces' Morale Affairs Department in January 2014.

During his tenure, the Armed Forces' Morale Affairs Department has been greatly developed; he inaugurated in 2014 the advanced Military Information Center, coinciding with holding the referendum of the Constitution, to follow up the local and international media as part of the department’s tasks to preserve national security.

He inaugurated in October 2017 a new centre for international conferences and exhibitions, located in Cairo besides Al-Moushir Tantawy Mosque in Nasr City district.

In the press conference held at the Armed Forces' Morale Affairs Department, Abdel Nabi declared that the center will be inaugurated during the celebrations of the October 6 victory.

There are many facilities inside the new center; the halls are provided with the best technological equipment, and the main hall can host up to 1,670 persons. The center also has a 3D cinema theatre.

The center is directly connected with the live broadcast units from the national Egyptian television, and Egyptian media production city to air important events.

The former director of Sisi’s office is Major General Abbas Kamel. Kamel took the constitutional oath before President Sisi as the new director of the Egyptian General Intelligence Directorate (GIS) on June 28.

Sisi began a second presidential term (2018-2022) on June 2 after he took the oath in an exceptional session at the Parliament.

Tight security measures have been taken at the headquarters of the Parliament ahead of President Sisi’s arrival.

Sisi won the presidential election held in March against his rival Moussa Moustafa Moussa with more than 97 percent of the votes. He swore in for his first presidential term in 2014 before the General Assembly of the Supreme Constitutional Court due to the absence of a valid Parliament at that time.

According to the Constitution, Sisi’s first presidential term ended on June 3, 2018. Swearing before the Parliament was applied for the first time since 2005 when former President Hosni Mubarak took the oath for the last time.
