CAIRO - 18 May 2017: The Administrative State Council Court considers Thursday a lawsuit which demands issuing a comprehensive pardon for former President Hosni Mubarak.

Ihasn Moharram filed a lawsuit to request that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi issue a comprehensive pardon for Mubarak, 89, as an Egyptian citizen, referring to the teachings of Islam which encourage pardoning others and respect of elders.

“The former president is an old man, there is no benefit from serving his sentence,” Moharram mentioned in her lawsuit, citing the incident when Prophet Muhammed pardoned Quraysh residents.

The comprehensive pardon is erasing the conviction against the convicted person, but it is not one of the president's authorities; it should be issued upon a law.

Mubarak was acquitted in March 2017 on charges of killing the January 25 revolution protesters. He lives in his house in Heliopolis since his release from Maadi Military Hospital.
