CAIRO – 30 May 2018: The parliament asserted on Tuesday it has endorsed 32 international agreements signed by the president or the prime minister, since the start of its third regular session on October 3, 2017.

In a press conference, MP Salah Hasaballah, the media spokesman for the House of Representative, said that the Parliament has endorsed 111 draft laws, and discussed 385 information requests from Parliament members to Prime Minister Sherif Ismail.

"The parliament also discussed 303 urgent statements during the third session, and posed 45 questions to the government," Hasaballah said, adding that the Proposals and Complaints Committee in the Parliament has finished discussing 551 suggestions.

The bills, draft laws and agreements aimed to upgrade the different sectors in Egypt and improve the lives of citizens. Among the top sectors addressed during the past few months since October are: health care, supporting workers and youth rights, countering corruption and easing investment measures, Hasaballah said.

The parliament spokesman also mentioned some of the key topics that will be on the table for the next period, most notably the draft law regulating the press and media, and another draft law regulating criminal procedures that will contain about 600 articles.

In the fourth session, that is expected to start in a few months, the Parliament will discuss the personal information protection law, which aims to protect the users’ information in online trade, according to MP Ahmed Mohamed Zidan, secretary general of the Parliament’s Communication Committee.

In an interview with Egypt Today, Zidan said the committee will also discuss a law for online trade, during the fourth session.
