CAIRO – 4 May 2017: U.S. President Donald Trump feels very reassured after meeting Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, at the White House, as he stated at the House’s press conference. Trump expressed his of view of how this might bode well for subsequent peace negotiations with the Israelis.

Based on upon the meeting, the U.S. president said that there will be more US cooperation with the Palestinian people, further noting his commitment to working with the Palestinians and Israelis to achieve peaceful resolutions. Trump, however, prioritized the collaboration with the Palestinian security forces to counter terrorism and spoke of the diligent efforts involved.

He added, during the conference, that he will help the Palestinian state at creating better economic opportunities and law enforcement. He emphasized his intent at being an impartial mediator and not imposing anything on either party in attempts to resolve the ongoing conflict.

After the meeting with President Abbas, especially, he feels there is good opportunity for peace and defeat of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met with U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday, this was their first meeting. The meeting is part of a three-day visit to Washington.
