CAIRO – 18 March 2018: Egyptian expatriates in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Ukraine and Oman headed Sunday to their embassies to cast their votes for the third day of the 2018 presidential election.

Minister of Immigration and Egyptian affairs Nabila Makram continued to follow up on updates of the third day of the presidential election abroad through operation rooms, established by Makram to ensure a smooth and transparent voting process for Egyptian expatriates.

The election process has begun in Australia at 9 AM(Australia local time) and will continue to 7 PM.Counting the votes will start at the end of the third day, in the presence of representatives of each candidate as well as representatives of the embassy.

The Free Egyptians party delegation said that despite the lowest average temperatures in Canada,the voters' turnout is good, reflecting the Egyptians' keenness to protect and support their country.

In this regard, Ambassador of Egypt to New Zealand Tarek elwassimy said that although New Zealand has a low percentage of Egyptians, they continue to vote and take part in the presidential election for the third day.

On the other hand, a high turnout of Egyptian expats, who were welcomed by Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman Mohamed Ghoneim, has been witnessed to cast their votes.

In the same context, Ukraine in Arabic newspaper reported that the polling stations in the Egyptian Embassy to Ukraine witnessed an increasing number of Egyptians on the third day of the 2018 election.

In a phone call with “ON Sabah,” Makram said that voting will be closed within four hours in Australia and New Zealand.

The Egyptian expatriates worldwide visited 139 polling stations early Saturday in embassies and consulates to cast their ballots on the second day of the 2018 presidential election, which is scheduled to last until Sunday March 18.

The 2018 presidential election takes place in 139 foreign embassies and consulates in 124 foreign countries for three days.

In 2017, the government estimated the number of Egyptians living abroad at 9.4 million.

The National Election Authority (NEA), headed by counselor Lashen Ibrahim, announced on February 24 the final list for Egypt’s upcoming presidential election including President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and Moussa Moustafa Moussa, Head of al-Ghad Party.
