CAIRO - 10 February 2018: Arab League (AL) Chief Ahmed Abul Gheit discussed Saturday with visiting Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Thomas Greminger developing dialogue and promoting cooperation between the two bodies during the coming phase in light of the presence of joint important priorities and challenges.

Abul Gheit stressed that the AL pays attention to establishing ongoing constructive dialogue with the European countries in general within the framework of the historic and contemporary ties binding the Arab and European regions at the political, economic, cultural and security levels, said AL secretary general spokesman Mahmoud Affifi.

The AL secretary general asserted the need to deal with the main challenges topped by the danger of terrorism as well as extremism and the unorganized crime, the spokesman underscored.

Abul Gheit stressed the importance of providing support by the European side to the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people including backing the Arab and the Palestinian stance towards Jerusalem, Affifi reiterated.

For his part, Greminger said that the OSCE seeks bolstering cooperation with the AL, expressing his keenness on organizing joint activities tackling issues of common interest.

The OSCE is ready to hone the technical skills of the Arab cadres especially in the field of dealing with security challenges, Greminger reiterated.
