Egypt backs U.S. on Syrian crisis

CAIRO – 13 April 2017: Egypt voted in favor of a resolution backing U.S. and various Arab Gulf countries’ interests regarding the Syrian crisis during the U.N Security Council meeting April 12,

This drastic change in Egypt’s situation regarding the Syrian crisis comes just after Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi met with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington D.C. a week earlier.

Egypt supported the U.N. Security Council resolution regarding the Syrian conflict back in 2016, which worked in favor of Russia and Syrian President Bashar Al Assad.

Ten countries, including Egypt, the U.S., and Saudi Arabia, supported the resolution, while Russia, along with Bolivia and China, vetoed the resolution.
