Egyptian parliamentary delegation to visit US Congress in May

CAIRO – 2 April 2017: A delegation from the Egyptian parliament will head to the United States in May to visit Congress and meet with representatives in the U.S. administration,

Sunday, quoting Deputy Head of the parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee Tarek El-Khouly.

Khouly confirmed that Speaker of the House of Representatives Ali Abdel Aal issued a final approval of the delegation that will aim for “executing and supporting the results of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s visit (to Washington) and his meeting with American President Donald Trump.”

The parliamentary mission will also tackle “means to ban the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization and developing Egypt-U.S. relations on a political and economic level,” Khouly said.

Sisi arrived in Washington Saturday for his first state visit to the U.S., where he is expected to meet with Trump and a number of high-ranking officials in the American administration.

The head of the Foreign Relations Committee in the parliament, Ahmed Said,

announced

in March that a visit to the U.S. was being arranged within the framework of parliamentary cooperation between Egypt and the United States, to meet with executives and officials from the U.S. State Department.
