CAIRO – 2 December 2017: UAE Foreign Affairs Minister Anwar Gargash said in a tweet on Saturday that Qatari mediation to save the Houthis sectarian militias “is documented and will not succeed because it is against the will of the Yemeni people.”

The Emir of Qatar, Tamim Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, offered to mediate for a truce between the two parties; the Houthis and the forces of former Yemeni president, but the latter rejected the offer.

More than 40 Houthi combatants were killed and dozens were injured in clashes that took place in Sanaa on Saturday between the Houthis and the militias of ousted Yemeni president Ali Abdullah Saleh, according to MENA.

The forces of former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh took control over the cities and areas under the control of the Houthis. There were clashes between the two allies that took place over the last two days where Saleh allied with the Yemeni tribes.
