CAIRO – 22 November 2017: A military solution to the Qatari crisis is not on the table, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said on Tuesday.

During his interview with Honna el A’esma (Here’s the Capital), broadcast on TV satellite channel CBC, Jubier said that Qatar has given in to some of the demands dictated by the Arab quartet, citing the Qatari government’s recent signing of a memorandum of understanding with the United States on putting restrictions on terrorism financing.

It also reduced its support to the extremist organizations operating in Syria and Libya, which would help find a peaceful solution to the conflicts taking place there, Jubeir said. He further added that Qatar pared down its support of Hamas, eventually conceding to turn over power to the national reconciliation government.

Since June 5, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates have turned on Qatar with a complete air and trade boycott over allegations of its support and sponsorship of terrorism. Doha denies those allegations.

Following the Arab boycott of Doha, a list of 13-demands was handed to Doha’s government by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain for reconciliation, which includes the closing of Al-Jazeera broadcasting and the suspension of its cozy relationship with the extremist government of Iran.
