CAIRO - 8 October 2017: French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Laudrian, during Friday meeting in Paris, expressed his appreciation for the economic reform program implemented in Egypt, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said.

He told the state TV that investment opportunities have increased as a result of these reforms, which would benefit the Egyptian citizens.

The minister said that Egypt and Ethiopia have historical relations that go beyond the Renaissance Dam file.

He added that Egypt, under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, adopts a foreign policy based on the principles of non-conspiracy and non-interference in the affairs of other countries, along with working to promote cooperation and mutual interest with mutual respect.

Shoukry expressed the hope that a an expected visit by the Ethiopian prime minister to Cairo would help build confidence and boost joint action.

He called for preserving the components of the tripartite agreement between Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan, so as not to waste more time while the construction of the dam is being accomplished.

The minister welcomed a US decision to lift sanctions on Sudan, which have been imposed since 1997, saying it would contribute to peace, stability and economic growth in Sudan.
