Sisi: Egypt keen to strengthen peace in South Sudan

CAIRO – 27 September 2017: Egypt is keen to consolidate the foundations of peace in South Sudan, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi asserted on Wednesday.

Cairo is also willing to exert utmost efforts to contribute to achieving security and stability in the African country, Sisi said in a meeting with South Sudanese Minister of Presidential Affairs Mayik Ayii Deng, in the presence of Head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service Khaled Fawzi.

Egypt will continue supporting the ongoing efforts in South Sudan to meet the aspirations of the South Sudanese people for the economic and social development, Sisi noted.

In a message handed over to Sisi, Deng confirmed that his country is eager to strengthen relations with Egypt in different fields, Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef said.

During the meeting, President Sisi and Deng reviewed the latest developments in South Sudan and the efforts exerted to restore security and stability in Juba, Youssed added.
