CAIRO - 9 July 2017: The European Union voiced support for Egypt in its war against terror, the EU high representative for foreign affairs and security policy said.

Foreign Minister Sameh Shokry received on Sunday a phone call from Federica Mogherini, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, who offered condolences over the victims of the recent terror attack in Rafah, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.

Mogherini commended Egypt's all-out vision calling for countering terrorism at intellectual, financial and organizational levels.

The talks tackled the latest developments concerning the Qatari stalemate, the spokesman said.

Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE are adamant to prod Qatar into changing its policy which is behind regional destabilization through bankrolling and harboring terrorist organizations, Shoukri told Mogherini during the phone call.

The four Arab states broke off ties with Qatar and sent it a 13-point list of demands which included shutting down Al Jazeera TV channel and closing a Turkish military base in Doha.

Qatar has however rejected the demands.
