CAIRO – 9 July 2017: Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan, the former chief of police of U.A.E.’s emirate of Dubai, said in a series of tweets Friday that Qatar’s government and media is responsible for terror attacks in Egypt.

Khalfan said in a tweet, “Qatar’s government and media is responsible for terror attacks in Egypt nowadays…These attacks are the result of their funding, supporting, and inciting terrorism.”

Khalfan added in a tweet that Doha’s incitement of terrorism make it according to law “main partner” of terrorism crimes.

In another, Khalfan urged the Egyptian families of victims of attacks to file cases against Qatar’s government.

Following his tweets about Qatar’s terrorist attacks in Egypt, Khalfan said that suspension of Qatar’s membership in the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Arab League would be an important step to take. He also called on Qatari nationals to detain Hamad bin Khalifa, former Qatar’s Emir and Hamad bin Jassim, former prime minister.

Khalfan’s tweets come amid an escalation in the rift between four Arab states–Egypt, Saudi Arabia, U.A.E. and Bahrain–and the tiny emirate of Qatar after the latter refused to meet the demands made by the four nations.
