CAIRO – 3 July 2017: Egypt condemned the suicide attack on refugee camps in the Iraqi governorate of Al Anbar which claimed the lives of 14 people on Sunday, according to a statement by Egypt’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid on Monday.

Egypt has affirmed its stance towards intensified international efforts to combat terrorism and to face those who finance these terrorist groups Abu Zeid added, expressing condolences to the victims’ families.

The Islamic State (IS) terrorist group claimed its responsibility for the attack, amid the Iraqi military campaign on IS hotbeds in Mosul, northern Iraq, ongoing since late 2016. Iraqi Armed Forces announced their reclamation of certain parts of Mosul from IS, three years after the terrorist group first seized the city.
