CAIRO – 28 June 2017: On the anniversary of Hamad bin Khalifa coup against his father on June 27, 1995, Qatari activists launched a hashtag to document the government’s human rights violations and discrimination against its own people.

The hashtag, which translates to, “in memory of Hamad bin Khalifa’s coup,” included tweets, videos and pictures of humiliating practices by Tamim and his government towards Qatari people. Activists said, “Before the coup, the Qatari was a master in his country, but after that he became a slave and a servant under the feet of Qaradawi and others.”

A humiliating picture of the Qatari people went viral on Twitter, showing leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas sitting on gold-plated chairs while a number of Qatari people are sitting on the ground at the Qatari royal palace.

In addition, a Qatari opposition activist said: "The mercenaries of Qatar are sitting in luxurious palaces while Qatari citizens are queuing on the Emiri Diwan.. Qatar is going to the void.”

Another Tweet translates to, “Who betrays his country and his father, it won’t be a surprise if he betrays the Gulf.”
