CAIRO_ 24 June 2017 (MENA): Egypt's political parties affairs committee filed on Saturday a petition with the high administrative court to dissolve the Building and Development Party, freeze its funds and uncover its financier.

The committee has referred a memo to the prosecutor general to investigate the party's violation of Article no 4 of political parties law over electing Tareq el Zomor, a fugitive terrorist, as the party's chairman.

Zomor is placed on the Arab nations terror list of 59 individuals and 12 entities that have links with Qatar.

The prosecutor's general report said that the party breached Article no 4.

The court also has issued a sentence against Zomor in absentia over Muslim Brotherhood armed protests in Nasr City's Raaa al Adawyia Square.

Article no 4 of political parties law calls for not electing the party's chairman on religious, ethnic, geographical or racial bases and that the party should not be a branch for any foreign party or organization.

The article also stipulated that the party's goals, agenda and policy should conform with basic constitutional principles and national security protection requirements.
