New UN envoy pledges to settle Libya crisis

TRIPOLI - 23 June 2017: New UN Libya envoy Ghassan Salame thanked on Friday the UN Security and the UN chief for naming him for the post.

Salame, in tweets, promised the Libyan people that the interest of their country will be on the top of his priorities.

The UNSC approved the appointment of Salame to replace Martin Kobler, who has been the Head of the UNSMIL since November 2015.

Kobler congratulated the new delegate on the new post, wishing him success in this mission
