PM directs to secure provision of foodstuff commodities, medicines

CAIRO, March 28 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli has placed emphasis on the necessary continuous working of factories in the current period to provide different needs of citizens, particularly foodstuff commodities and medicines.

The premier made his statements at a meeting held on Saturday to follow up the operation of factories and check the availability of production requirements under the government's procedures to overcome the consequences of the novel coronavirus.

The meeting was attended by Minster of Trade and Industry Nevin Gamea and head of the Federation for Egyptian Industries (FEI) Mohamed el Sewedi.

Madbouli stressed that the factories should abide by the application of all preventive measures to protect the health and lives of all workers.

The premier pointed out that the traffic of such commodities and production requirements will not be restricted.

Gamea said all necessary arrangements have been adopted to ensure the operation of foodstuff commodities and medicines factories with full capacity.

The minister added that coordination with the concerned bodies has been made to allow the transport of such products and requirements during the curfew hours.

El Sewedi extended thanks to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the premier and all officials of the government over the support of the national industry in light of the application of the precautionary procedures to counter the outbreak of the COVID-19.

El Sewedi said the FEI will provide EGP 5 million to contribute to buying medical requirements of the Health Ministry to help the State combat the coronavirus.
