CAIRO, March 25 (MENA) - Spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in Cairo Jiao Jinshian said on Wednesday that reports circulated on social media on the spread of Hantavirus in China are groundless and irresponsible accusations.

In statements on Wednesday, the spokesman said Hantavirus was discovered by scientists in the early 1970's and was documented by the World Health Organization (WHO).

He made it clear that many cases of Hantavirus infections were detected in several world countries over the past decades and there are vaccines for such virus.

Jiao also termed such rumors as "provocative" as it could increase the panic among people at the time when all world countries are facing the dangerous impact of the spread of coronavirus.
