A statement by the CPYP commended the strenuous efforts exerted by the Egyptian state and its authorities to fight the emerging Coronavirus. "Based on a full awareness of national responsibility, armed with an optimal understanding of taking decisions at their appropriate moments, and aiming to protect each citizen from that imminent danger."

The initiative seeks to train 10,000 final-year medical and pharmacy students as auxiliary medical staff, with an aim to provide the necessary medical services during emergencies.

The initiative comes coinciding with a COVID-19 outbreak, which necessitates the presence of a larger number of medical staff, to support the capacity of existing hospital staff.

The auxiliary medical staff is intended to be a voluntary medical and health services provider with a mission to supply effectively and efficiently regular services to maintain the health and well-being of people in Egypt.

"The Egyptian society, with its entities and individuals, realizes its national responsibility towards its beloved country, with unity and societal solidarity, so that we can all cross with our homeland past this global crisis with the lowest cost," the CPYP statement said.

Graduates of the initiative will be granted certificates of appreciation for volunteering to aid during times of crises.

The statement further emphasized the importance of community participation and the role of the youth in serving their country.
