ALEXANDRIA, Egypt, Oct 20 (MENA) - Navy Commander Vice Admiral Ahmed Khaled Hassan Sunday said the Egyptian Navy is capable of confronting all challenges facing the country as part of the Armed Forces integral system.

During a press conference marking the 52nd anniversary of the Navy, the commander said the Navy has become stronger and stronger after having been supported with the latest in international fleets including modern maritime units to be ready for all missions.

In light of the deteriorating security conditions in the Middle East and their impact on the Egyptian and Arab national security, the Armed Forces General Command has signed contracts to purchase state-of-the-art combat and technical systems the latest of which was Mistral Helicopters, FREMM and Gowind frigades and others, he added.

He praised the continued development of the navy, mainly as regards the human element using the latest curricula and exchanging expertise with leading world navies.
